Mission Statement

Orange Girl Productions Ltd exists to push the boundaries of theatre specifically with regard to the quantity and depth of roles available to women. To this end, the Company will commission and present productions which, whilst not necessarily passing the Bechdel Test, will nevertheless present plays with fully-rounded female characters, in order to simultaneously increase the number of meaty roles for women in the industry, and to contribute as far as possible to the normalisation of the presentation of women front and centre upon the stage.

The company's name is a nod to the Seventeenth Century actress Nell Gwyn, a former orange girl at Drury Lane Theatre, and the subject of the company’s inaugural production, "Nell Gwyn: An Epilogue".
